SWIFT Service Bureau for Banks

What is a SWIFT Service Bureau?

A SWIFT Service Bureau is a SWIFT-certified service provider that gives banks, corporates and fintechs access to the global SWIFT network as a managed service (software-as-a-service plus the assumption of operational functions). Instead of building, operating, securing and regularly auditing their own SWIFT infrastructure, our customers use the audited infrastructure and expertise of the EFiS Service Bureau – with lower costs and complexity and higher quality and security.

EFiS: a SWIFT Service Bureau since 1997

As early as 1997, EFiS was accredited as Europe's first private SWIFT Service Bureau and has been setting standards for security, innovation and availability in national and international payments ever since. Today, banks, corporates and fintechs rely on our SWIFT access – operated exclusively from data centers in Germany, KRITIS-compliant, ISO 27001- and ISAE 3402-certified.

Our services as a SWIFT Service Bureau

  • 24x7 operations with Security Operational Contact (SOC) and Payment Operational Contact (POC)
  • Assumption of the Shared Security Officer role
  • Extensive services such as RMA administration, certificate management and user management
  • Certified SWIFT specialists and more than 120 successful migrations
  • Support for CSP audits – EFiS is a certified CSP auditor
  • Operation of your SWIFT connection as a backup solution to safeguard in-house operations or as a backup to another SSB

All SWIFT services from a single source

We support the full range of SWIFT services: traditional FIN messages, FileAct file exchange, FINPlus/InterAct workflows and real-time communication for Instant Payments via SwiftNet AGI. In addition, we offer services around SWIFT gpi and the migration to ISO 20022.

What the SWIFT Service Bureau means for banks

Operating your own SWIFT infrastructure ties up specialists, causes high fixed costs and is subject to growing regulatory requirements – from the annual CSP audit to DORA and BAIT. EFiS operates your SWIFT connection fully as an SSB or as a backup solution – predictable, low-risk and within the agreed time and budget.

The SWIFT Service Bureau also fits seamlessly into our other services for banks: connection to TARGET services via ESMIG, SEPA clearing, national clearing systems, Instant Payments and payment processing – all from a single source.

Your benefits as a bank

  • Predictable costs instead of your own infrastructure and specialist team. Full scalability with cost transparency
  • Regulatory relief – CSP audit support, Shared Security Officer, DORA/NIS2/BAIT
  • Backup option to safeguard your existing in-house operations
  • Seamless integration with TARGET, SEPA and Instant Payments
  • Digital sovereignty – operated exclusively from German data centers
